In France the hurdy-gurdy has been much more common than in Sweden. It’s revival in the last 40 years equals the revival of the nyckelharpa in Sweden.

The standard French vielle à roue is much more elaborated than the simple specimens of the instruments found in Sweden. My French hurdy gurdy was made by Jean-Luc Blêton in 1977.
